Meet Blanco

Blanco’s story began with heartbreak. After becoming the victim of a family divorce, he was taken to another home where he wasn’t allowed inside and was left tied to a front porch in the heat. He became severely underweight before someone stepped in to help. Although boarding got him out of the heat, Blanco struggled there too, rapidly declining without the comfort and companionship of a home. That’s when I stepped in, and Blanco finally had a safe place to begin healing.

Today, Blanco is a calm, incredibly sweet boy who forms a very special bond with his person. He may not immediately give his heart to everyone, but once you earn his trust, he absolutely loves affection, attention, and being rubbed and loved on.

Blanco loves walks and is a wonderful walking companion. He remains calm when he sees other dogs and isn’t bothered by dogs barking around him. At home, he enjoys going into the backyard to potty and wander around for a little while, but he’s definitely an indoor guy who would rather come back inside and relax on one of his beloved beds.

His beds and personal spaces are important to him, and he can be protective of them around other dogs. He has successfully spent time outside with several dogs in his foster home, but because of his size and his preference for personal space, his interactions are managed thoughtfully.

Blanco also has a sensitive side. He is very afraid of thunderstorms and rain and will look for a quiet, secure place to hide. In his foster home, he has his own bed in the bedroom closet, which has become his safe place during storms.

He prefers not to have his feet or ears handled and needs someone patient who will respect his boundaries and allow trust to develop at his pace. Even kisses on the face are something Blanco reserves for people he truly trusts.

After everything this boy has been through, Blanco isn’t asking for much—just a safe home, a comfortable bed, patience, and a human he can finally call his own.
