Meet Thor & Nala — A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home
Let me introduce you to Thor and Nala, two incredibly sweet dogs who are looking for a loving forever home together. These two are a bonded pair and truly are happiest when they have each other.
Due to unfortunate medical circumstances, their current family is no longer able to give them the time and attention they deserve. This is a very difficult decision, and finding the right home for them is extremely important.
Thor is a 6-year-old purebred Great Pyrenees male, neutered, born in 2020.
Nala is a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees/Akbash mix female, spayed, born May 2021.
They have been inside pets for the past few years and are house-trained. They do well on a tether when outside, but absolutely love having a securely fenced yard where they can explore and keep an eye on things.
And let me tell you... protecting is in their blood!
Great Pyrenees and Akbash were bred to guard and protect, and Thor and Nala definitely take that job seriously. They are natural protectors of their home and boundaries and will let you know when someone—or something—doesn't belong there.
While they have been wonderful indoor companions, we believe they could also be very happy on a farm or property where they have room to roam and a job to do. They were born to have a purpose. Whether that's watching over livestock, protecting the property, or simply being the guardians of their family and land, having something to watch over may be exactly what makes these two happiest.
They are good with adults and children, although they need a little time to warm up to new faces.
Nala is the social butterfly. She loves meeting people and getting pets and is usually the first one to greet everyone.
Thor is more shy and reserved at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes an absolute cuddle buddy. He has a very sweet, gentle side that comes out once he feels comfortable.
They even have their own little personalities when it comes to grooming. Thor happily walks right in, while Nala goes along because she needs to make sure her brother is okay!
Both are good on a leash and enjoy going for walks, although they can get easily distracted by all those fascinating smells along the way!
When it comes to sleeping, they're pretty easy to please. Give them a comfy bed, a soft patch of grass, or—better yet—the perfect patch of dirt, and they're happy as can be.
A few important things about Thor & Nala:
They are fully vaccinated.
They must be adopted together.
They are best suited to a home where they will be the only dogs. Nala has shown aggression toward very small dogs.
Thor has IBS, so they both eat a specialized Hills Z/D diet.
They receive a daily glucosamine chew and dental chews every few days.
They are very good about taking their medications.
Neither does well with gunshots or fireworks. Thor is especially frightened by loud bangs and will need reassurance and comfort.
Both know and follow basic commands: sit, come, lay down, leave it, etc. Both have a good recall, for Pyrs. ;)
These two have so much love, loyalty and companionship to give. They are not just pets, they are protectors, companions and best friends who have spent their lives together.
The right home for Thor and Nala is out there.
If you think you might be that home, wed love to arrange a meet-and-greet so you can spend some time with them and see their wonderful personalities for yourself.
Please help us find Thor and Nala their forever home—together.
