Il prend son rôle de protecteur de sa famille très au sérieux — cela fait partie de sa nature et ne représente pas simplement un comportement qui peut être éliminé par l’entraînement.
Pour cette raison, il ne convient pas à une famille moyenne ou à des propriétaires sans expérience. Sa future famille devra bien comprendre les caractéristiques des chiens de type gardien ainsi que l’engagement nécessaire en matière d’éducation, de structure et de gestion de ses comportements. Il a un historique de défis comportementaux et il est important de comprendre que, même si l’entraînement peut améliorer plusieurs aspects et aider à développer de meilleures habitudes, certaines tendances génétiques ou liées à sa race ne peuvent pas être « corrigées », mais plutôt comprises et gérées.
