COURTESY POST, NOT AT OUR SHELTER.
Rockingham County, NC Looking for the Right Home for Juniper, a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees / White Labrador mix (born April 1, 2023). She is spayed, microchipped, house trained, crate trained, obedience trained and current on vaccinations.
This is a something I never imagined I would have to write. Our daughter has recently been diagnosed with a genetic condition affecting her skin barrier. Her skin is unable to protect itself the way it should, leaving her vulnerable to constant inflammation, irritation, infection, and severe eczema. Under the guidance of her medical team, we are making major environmental changes to reduce irritants in her daily life, including removing animal dander from the home, eliminating carpet, and relocating to a less humid climate. Because of this, we are searching for a new home for our beloved dog, Juniper.
A true gentle giant gentle giant, Juniper has grown up with babies, toddlers, cats, and free-range chickens. She has never shown aggression toward any of them. She regularly checks on our children, especially when a baby is crying, and has always been exceptionally patient and trustworthy around kids. We can take toys directly from her mouth without concern.
She has completed professional training through Dogs by Andy (contact information available) and knows: Come, Heel, Place, Free, Sit, Down, Stay
She walks beautifully on her e-collar or leash, does not pull, and is remarkably calm around other dogs. During boarding, she attended dog daycare and did well with every dog she met. In fact, they initially placed her with the small dogs because of how gentle she was.
Juniper is not a barker. Even when neighboring dogs are barking, she always remains quiet. She is a lower-energy dog who is happiest relaxing near her people, lying in a sunny spot outside, or keeping watch over the family.
Her crate is her safe space, and she will often choose to rest there even when the door is open. She also has a raised platform bed that will come with her and understands the command place.
We are looking for a home that understands giant-breed dogs and wants a true family companion. She will not be placed in a home where she will spend her life chained outside. Juniper is deeply people-oriented and happiest when she is part of the family.
Requirements:
Fenced yard
Meet-and-greet required
$50 rehoming fee
Located within 3 hours of or able to travel to Ridgeway, Virginia
Most importantly, we want to keep her out of a shelter environment. Juniper is a well-trained, well-loved family dog. She deserves a calm transition into a home that will cherish her as much as we do.
If you think you may be the right fit, please email wilsonestatepoint@gmail.com and tell us a little about your family and home.
