Sweet Pepper was dumped and abandoned in Texas. She found her way to an incredible foster and was brought to safety. She is now living in Denver at a foster home and is adoptable in Colorado.
Here’s what her foster says:
“Baby Pepper is a 7mo blue merle Great Dane with honey eyes and honestly the easiest puppy I’ve ever fostered. She is very docile, gentle and unusually low energy for a puppy. She loves people and is friendly with strangers right away. Most of the time she’s following me around, lying at my feet or resting her head in my lap. She loves scritches on the back of her neck is very sweet with my children. I think she could make a good ESA for the right person because she really just wants to be with you.
She doesn’t play bite or nip, doesn’t jump on people, takes treats gently and has no resource guarding.
Pepper loves other dogs. She likes to chase and play, but isn’t a rowdy puppy. She has also been around reactive dogs and doesn’t react back. I think she could do really well with an older dog that wants a friend without having a crazy puppy bothering them.
Pepper is potty trained. She is still learning to ask to go outside, but she does hold it until I take her out or follows my other dogs outside. We haven’t had any accidents in the house. I take her outside after naps to “go potty.” Then, I mark and reward her when she goes. We wait to go back inside until she potties. Potty training her has honestly been so easy.
She is told “off” of she climbs into the bed or couch and is respectful that those are off limits. She listens well, doesn’t counter surf and isn’t destructive with her toys or dog beds. I can leave her loose in the house without worrying about her tearing things up. However, she does have a thing for stinky flip flops.
We are still working on crate training. We are slowly adjusting her but for now, she sleeps all night on a dog bed in my room and does great.
She walks really well on a leash and doesn’t pull. We live in the country, so she is still getting used to extremely loud things like oversized farm equipment going by. She has no storm anxiety and likes playing in the pond. Her coat is also really soft and she doesn’t shed much.
Baby Pepper is just a sweet, sweet and easy girl. She’s the lowest energy puppy I’ve ever fostered and would make such a good companion for someone looking for a dog who is happy just being by their side.”
