Our goal is to help our puppies and dogs find FOREVER HOMES AND FAMILIES, NOT TO MAKE IT PROHIBITIVE FOR YOU TO ADOPT. Meet Lily
Lily is a goofy, affectionate, incredibly playful Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix with a huge personality and lots of potential! At 14 months old and 31 pounds, she has an energy ranges from 6 to 9. When there is fun to be, had Lily loves playing ball, chasing, keep-away, and tossing squeaky toys in the air. Curious, food-motivated, and eager to be involved, she enjoys exploring and staying close to her people. She is also adorably clumsy, sometimes beckons with one paw when she wants something, and loves bully sticks and playful interaction.
However, Lilly does love to settle down and cuddle with her human after she’s had enough exercise or been playing for a long time she will look for her human and be willing to be by your side on the bed or near your feet while you’re working on your laptop or watching television or reading a book - Lilly loves companionship!
Lily knows sit, stay, and lay down, rides well in the car, sleeps comfortably in her kennel, and is working on leash skills and socialization. She lives successfully with two Pomeranians and two cats, enjoying her canine companions and remaining gentle with the cats.
Lily spent too much of her puppyhood kenneled with limited exposure to household life and the outside world. Lily has made wonderful progress since entering a home - now she knows that her crate time is limited and is very well behaved when left out in the home where she can play with her toys or just flop down and sploot on the kitchen floor
Lily is still somewhat timid in public and may bark when unsure about unfamiliar people, animals, or objects. With patience and time to investigate at her own pace, Lily becomes more comfortable. She needs continued positive experiences to build confidence.
Lily also has mild separation anxiety and may whine when she cannot see her person, but she typically settles within about 10 minutes. Because she is energetic and enthusiastic during play, she would benefit from continued training and guidance with other dogs and play boundaries. Introductions to unfamiliar dogs should be slow, controlled, and supervised.
Roseanna at Better Pups Dog Training called Lily a “dog trainer’s dream.” With her intelligence and enthusiasm, she could excel at agility, scent work, or another activity that provides mental stimulation and a job to do.
Lily’s ideal home will be active, patient, and committed to positive-reinforcement training and confidence-building. She needs daily exercise, structured play, and continued socialization; a securely fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus. Lily is a loving, playful girl who has come so far and is ready for someone to help her continue discovering how wonderful the world can be!

Our philosophy is to rescue highly adoptable dogs, have them live kennel-free in private homes for temperament assessments and individual personalities.
We work hard to match EACH dog with the right family - kids or no kids, other dogs male or female and/or cats. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs under 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD.General Info - PLEASE READ!
