DESCRIPTION
*In a foster home*
Darby is a sweet German Shorthair Pointer mix who recently came to us after being pulled from another shelter. We're still getting to know her personality, but so far she has been a gentle, friendly girl who enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats. Darby does seem to get along better with dogs her size.
Darby has done well with older children, though we aren't sure yet how she does with very young kids. She can be a little timid around men at first, but with patience and kindness she continues to warm up and gain confidence.
As she settles in, we're excited to learn more about her likes, quirks, and favorite activities. If you're looking for a kind-hearted companion to grow with your family, Darby may be the perfect fit! Apply at ghhs.org
ABOUT: GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER DOG BREED
The German Shorthaired Pointer is a versatile and intelligent sporting dog breed known for its athleticism and hunting abilities. With a striking coat that is typically liver and white, these dogs are energetic, loyal, and make excellent companions for active families. They excel in various canine sports, such as agility and field trials, and are eager to please their owners. Their keen sense of smell and natural hunting instincts make them ideal for hunting birds and small game. Socialization and mental stimulation are essential for the well being of this breed.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
