- During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs.
- I already know some basic commands!
- I would thrive with an adopter who is ready to train a puppy!
- I am mostly housebroken in my foster home when I’m kept on a schedule.
My home needs are:
-I must meet kids under the age of 10 prior to going home to make sure that we’re a great match.
Hi there, I’m Cash! I’m such a fun dog! I’m always ready for whatever adventures await. And simply being by your side makes me feel happy and content beyond words. I’m so eager to please and ready to be your best friend. I hope you want that too. I hope you don’t mind that I’m still a puppy who needs direction and training to grow into the best adult dog I can be. With a little time, patience, and help from you, we’ll be such a great team making happy memories together. I can’t wait!
I’m a darling, almost 6-month-old, 20-pound (and still growing!) German Shorthair Pointer mix, with a bright smile, gentle eyes, and a sweet, spunky, yet chill personality. I’m already mostly housebroken too, as long as you keep me on a schedule and get me outside regularly. I was transferred to Wayside from a rural shelter in Arkansas that didn’t have space for me. It was such a scary and confusing time! I still remember shaking in my kennel at the big shelter, hoping no one would notice me. With time, I began to make friends and have some fun. And then the best thing ever happened, when I was chosen to go to a loving foster home! My foster mom has been teaching me manners and showing me what it feels like to be loved and cared for in a real home. Ah, life is good!
I quickly made myself at home and settled into my new routine in foster. Knowing what to expect has helped to put me at ease. Foster Mom takes me out every 4-6 hours and right before bed for a bathroom break, which has helped to set me up for success with housebreaking. On the occasion that I can’t get out in time, I’ve also learned how to use a pee pad. When no one is home, I happily stay in a gated off area of the kitchen with no problems. I quietly and peacefully sleep through the night in either the kitchen or Foster Mom’s bedroom. I’m mostly well behaved in the house, but as a pup who is still learning, please keep an eye on me. It’s easy to do...I like to follow Foster Mom from room to room all day long, so she never has to wonder what I’m up to. I love being part of the action! When she cooks, I lounge on my dog bed in the kitchen, always keeping an eye on her. And when she gardens in the front yard, she puts me on a cable leash so that I can watch her, as well as other neighborhood activities. It’s all so exciting to a pup like me!
Foster Mom calls me her little angel as we hang out together. I love playing with my chew toys and balls. And I’m mostly quiet, unless I need to alert that someone is at the door. I’m still learning about life, so Foster Mom stays patient and calm with me. I am thriving with positive reinforcement and gentle redirection when needed. Like most pups, I can get overly excited at times, trying to get your attention with jumps and puppy nips. Foster Mom is working with me on this, but these things take time to grow out of. Maintaining a routine and regular training sessions have helped me learn what’s expected of me. I enjoy having visitors stop by, happily greeting them. I don’t know a stranger.
I love to play in our fenced yard, go for walks, and I never turn down a ride in the car. I sit patiently by the car in the garage waiting for Foster Mom to open up the door for our next adventure. I walk great on my leash, always eager to greet new people or other dogs along the way. I love other dogs! I get along fine with the dogs in my foster home. I have a bouncy, playful puppy style. I’d love to go home with another playful dog to hang out with. I also live with dog savvy cats in my foster home. I respect them and back off if they swat or growl at me. If they engage in play, Foster Mom steps in to supervise, so that our play doesn’t get too rough. If you have kids under the age of 10, I’ll need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure that they’re comfortable with my enthusiastic puppy play. Overall, I should do well in a variety of homes, as long as you have time and attention to give me. I want and need to be an important and involved member of the family.
I have so much potential, so much to offer, and so much love to give. All I’ve ever needed is my chance to shine. My foster family gave me that gift. And now I know that I can do this. I can be a beloved member of a family, bringing sunshine, silliness, and puppy antics to each and every day. I’m ready. Ready to be your constant companion and your best buddy, always there whenever you need me. Let me do that for you.
Love, Cash
