Meet Digby
27 months old Male
Digby is a young, well-trained dog who has received extensive obedience training through our service dog program but has shown us that public-access service work is not the right career for him.
Digby can be reactive toward male dogs, and his responses are not always predictable. When he becomes highly stimulated or reactive, particularly if given a firm correction in that moment, he may redirect that reaction toward his handler. For this reason, Digby needs an experienced adopter who understands canine reactivity, recognizes signs of escalating arousal, and is comfortable using appropriate handling and management techniques.
Interestingly, Digbyhas consistently and successfully coexisted with a female dog in our exercise yards. While this does not guarantee compatibility with every female dog, placement with an appropriately matched female dog may be possible following careful introductions and evaluation.
Digby will do best with someone who appreciates the importance of structure, consistency, and understanding the individual dog in front of them.
Digby's ideal home: An experienced, confident dog owner who understands reactivity and is willing to follow the handling and management practices recommended by his trainers. A home without male dogs is preferred. A compatible female dog may be considered on an individual basis.
