Mayo is a 6-7 year old male who bears a striking resemblance to Eeyore, but with a much better outlook on life. He's a happy boy, despite some challenges.
Mayo was surrendered to CACC in pretty bad shape. He had an enlarged prostate, several infections, and a powerful stench. He was heartworm positive and is currently finishing up treatment.
Mayo also has some orthopedic problems, but the vet won't be able to determine their exact nature and potential treatments until he's under general anesthesia for neutering and x-rays. He doesn't seem uncomfortable or painful - just clumsy. He has an odd gait and trips frequently. Mayo won't ever be a running partner or agility prospect. TV watching partner - absolutely! He'd also make a great work from home office mate. He's usually quiet and calm unless he's left alone or he thinks dinner is taking too long.
Mayo is a big mush when it comes to people. He adores attention. He has separation anxiety and needs a home where someone is around most of the time.
Mayo has been great with the dogs in his foster home – large and small, male and female. He does some mild resource guarding with food and toys when other dogs approach his crate. Mayo is not cat friendly and should not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals.
He keeps his crate clean but will have occasional accidents when given freedom to roam inside the house, especially if he is unsupervised.
Mayo is a BIG boy - about 100 pounds. He's very strong and will try to use his strength to get what he wants (usually food or a cat!). His new family needs to be committed to training.
