DESCRIPTION

“Hi, I’m Crews... and I’ve been waiting for my person.”

From the heart of Crews himself

Hi there. My name is Crews, and if you’ve got a minute, I’d really like to tell you my story. I’m a German Shepherd mix, mostly shepherd through and through—smart, loyal, eager, and full of heart. I’m about a year and a half old, still young enough to be playful and goofy, but old enough to know that what I want most in the world is a person of my own.

Back in July, I was picked up as a stray. I didn’t know where I was supposed to go or who I belonged to. I kept hoping someone would come for me, someone who recognized me and called my name. But the days passed, then the weeks, and nobody ever showed up. I stayed at the pound all the way until September, watching other dogs leave with their families while I waited and wondered if anyone even remembered me.

Then something changed. One of the staff members there saw something in me—maybe my big shepherd eyes, maybe the way I pressed myself against the kennel door hoping for attention—and they reached out to Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They said I deserved a chance. And now I’m here, safe, cared for, and finally able to hope again.

I share my kennel with a female dog, and we get along just fine. I’m polite, friendly, and I don’t try to be the boss. But if I’m being honest... I’d rather be with people. I love people. I love attention. I love being close enough to lean into you and feel your hand on my head. Sometimes I get so excited that I forget my manners and try to jump up to get closer. I’m not trying to be rude—I just want to be loved. I’m learning, though. The humans here remind me that jumping isn’t polite unless I’m invited, and I’m getting better every day. I’m a shepherd, after all. We’re smart. We catch on quickly.

I’ve been neutered, I’m current on all my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped, so I’ll never be lost again. That part means a lot to me. After everything I’ve been through, knowing I’ll always be able to find my way home is a big comfort.

What I want now is simple: a family who sees me for who I am. I’m energetic, affectionate, and full of potential. I want someone who will help me finish learning my manners, someone who enjoys a dog who wants to be right by their side. I’d love walks, training sessions, car rides, yard time, or just hanging out while you do your thing. I don’t need perfection—I just need you.

If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you, who will try his hardest, who will grow into an incredible companion with just a little guidance, I think we might be a perfect match. I’ve waited a long time for someone to choose me. Maybe you’re the one I’ve been waiting for.

If you’d like to meet me, the rescue says you can email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here, tail wagging, hoping today is the day my forever person finally walks through the door.

Love, Crews
