Nice to meet you everyone, my name is Arlo :)
My kennel mommy named me after the main character in Disney's "The Good Dinosaur". She said I needed some guidance to come out of my shell and grow into the confident boy I was meant to be!
I was picked up in the early hours of the morning after I wandered onto a resident's porch in search of assistance. They were initially fearful as this dark, shaggy figure had appeared at their door and they mistakenly took me for a wolf! Little did they know, I really just wanted some breakfast and a warm, dry place to lay my head.
The kennel staff suspects that I was purchased as a young puppy by a family who knew nothing of my breed, more specifically the exercise and grooming requirements associated with having a GSD. My painful matted hair was caked in feces meaning I was in desperate need of a mini makeover. I'm a sweet boy who enjoys meeting new faces, but the stress of kennel life has admittedly taken a toll on my emotions. I want nothing more than to be free from this confinement, roaming in the wilderness with an active family who loves me. As a young lad, I have a bright future ahead of me. The staff is searching for a GSD savvy adopter to help me grow into a stable and confident adult dog. I have the potential to live with a canine companion and may even benefit from their guidance and leadership. Sorry to upset some of you kind folks, but I am not looking to share my space with cats or young children under the age of 12 at this time.
