We finally get to post an update on our girl, Zara aka momma shepherd.
For longer than we can measure, this girl braved scorching heat, fought off hunger, and endured conditions that left physical scars across her face. Neighbors shared that when she had her last litter, Zara would scrounge for whatever kibble she could find and carry it back, bite by bite, to feed her puppies—sacrificing her own meals to make sure her puppies survived. Zara is around 6 years old but we know living out there aged her.
We were fortunate enough to rescue Zara alongside 3 of her surviving pups because we don’t even wanna think about how much longer they would’ve had to endure the conditions they were living in.
Since arriving at our rescue, Zara has been nothing but deeply thankful to every rescuer and volunteer...she’s gotten to taste what clean water on demand feels like, what a soft bed under her tired body feels like, and what it’s like to eat without worrying if her babies will have enough food.
Now, we want nothing more than for Zara to experience what it truly feels like to be wanted, cherished, and loved as a full member of a family.
Zara is looking for a foster or forever home. Opening your home to her means giving her a lifetime of joyful "firsts"—her first time having zoomies, her first belly rub, and her first realization that she will never have to struggle again.
