Meet our very handsome distinguished gentleman named Pedro! Pedro is about 4 years old and he is a large Shepherd boy. He ended up in our shelter when he was found abandoned behind a vacant house tied to a tree. We believe Pedro was owned at one point by a transient man who resided in Meriden for a short time. Pedro is now looking for a forever home where he can be safe and comfortable for the rest of his life! Pedro is a friendly boy who very much enjoys being with people. He is affectionate, but not jumpy or overly energetic. Pedro loves a good butt scratch and he is good walking on the leash. He is not a fan of being in the kennel, and we would love to find him a home soon. Pedro is fine with other dogs and he was non reactive in our cat room. He can go to a home with children 12 years old and older who have experience with larger dogs. We are looking for a home that has experience with German Shepherds or similar breeds.

You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.

An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments.

ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
