Ginger is looking for a new and better life
This sweet girl was found by a local shelter wandering the streets alone. Unfortunately she was shutting down in the shelter and not doing well. We brought her into rescue and gave her a chance in a foster home. Her history is unknown, but based on her behavior we believe she was abused by a man.
While she looks very much like a German Shepard she is def a mix as she has a smaller petite stature and is only 60lbs.
Ginger is very smart girl who appreciates lots of attention. She knows commands and listens well to "come", "sit", "down" and no. She absolutely loves tennis balls and bones to chew on. Once you've earned her love and trust she will let you get her ball and throw it for her in the yard. Overall she prefers to be indoors as shes afraid to be outside alone. She requires her human to be in sight for her to feel safe enough to go potty currently.
She does behave fearful around men ad requires slow introduction with men sitting down. Even with men in her current foster home she does not immediately recognize them when they enter the room and does bark. While she could warm up to a man in the home its clear she trusts women solely and needs a woman as a primary caregiver.
She gaurds her resources such as her human, food and toys from other dogs. Its clear she didnt have much in life and is not willinging to savrifice what she has to another dog. For this reason we ask that Ginger be the only pet. She does have a prey drive and will chase small animals that run through the yard.
Ginger loves her current foster mom with her whole heart and we know she will make the best companion to the right home. She will offer cuddles in bed all night, and comfort you as much as you do her. She is the sweetest soul thats survived some serious trauma. Could you be her second chance?
