Rumi (Remi) - German Shepherd Dog and Husky Dog for Adoption in Harrison City, Pennsylvania

Hi, I'm RUMI- a 9 month old German Shepherd mix pup who had a very tough start to life. She is a tender-hearted and deeply loving pup who truly blossoms once she feels safe and secure. She thrives on routine, calm and consistent guidance, and a home that understands that she needs clear and supportive structure. Once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate side shines through. Rumi is still learning to trust the world and will continue to need support with socialization to new experiences. She has significant containment anxiety and is currently working with her foster family to build acceptance of being in a pen (not ready for a crate) for short but increasingly longer durations.

This will be work that her adoptive family will need to continue to do with her. She also shows some resource guarding until she's fully comfortable in a home. Because of these needs, Rumi is looking for an adults-only home or one with older teens who can understand and consistently respect her boundaries. She would benefit from an older calm, confident dog also being in the home.
