Kona belonged to an elderly lady who is now in Hospice and can not keep Kona so we're keeping her until we find her a home. Kona is very sweet and has really opened up and started playing A LOT now that she is around 10 other dogs (we have 7 of our own and 3 puppies we're trying to get adopted). We've been pleasantly surprised and how much younger she acts now and no longer has much trouble with stairs. She is 9-10 years old so she doesn't play hard long but is still very active but also good just hanging out. She does like attention and gets jealous when other dogs get the attention. She will bark and barge in but she never gets violent or aggressive. Just longs for loving! Her favorite relaxing time was sitting on a swing with her previous owner as she loves being close to her people.
She gets along great with our 10 other dogs and they range in age from 6 months to 16 years and 12lbs to 135lbs. We also have 2 cats and she is very intrigued by them but has been nose to nose with them many times and hasn't done anything other than lightly nudge or even lick them. But, she is always curious where they're at and likes to watch them.
She needs a loving home to finish out her last few years and it'd be great if there was at least 1 other dog present that likes to play as well as it'll keep Kona younger longer.
She is fully house trained and has had zero accidents in 2 months. She has not been food aggressive at all. She has not been around kids but I can not imagine a scenario where she'd be a problem at all as it's just not in her nature.
We are asking for a $40 adoption fee just to make sure she doesn't go to someone looking for a free dog for nefarious reasons. The only other cost would be transport if needed as she is located in Trinity, Texas.
