Cooper (and Lucy) - German Shepherd Dog Dog for Adoption in De Soto, Kansas

Cooper and Lucy are searching for a forever home, and time is of the essence.

Cooper, an energetic male, black & tan, shepherd mix, is always happy to have people around him. He is 5 years old, fully vacinated and intact. He used to live with Momma Jean until she passed away last year. He then moved in with her son Dan and his dog Lucy.
Lucy is a 6 year old spayed female Shiba mix (yellow & white) with one good eye and one cloudy eye. The medical treatment of her glaucoma has been completed by her vet and she handles herself very well especially with her best bud, Cooper by her side. They make quite a team and are a bonded pair.
Tragedy struck again when Dan suddenly passed away in August leaving both dogs without a permanent home.
These dogs love people and probably aren't sure why people keep leaving them. They are good with children and appear to be cat friendly. They love being in a big backyard and don't seem to want to dig or climb a fence. They are housebroken and will come when called. Both dogs will sit on command and enjoy chasing a thrown toy together. Lucy often times will let Cooper do most of the work only to steal it from him then bring it back to you.
Both dogs are good for property protection as each has a good solid bark. Lucy is quicker to calm for known people but Cooper will calm down after being re-introduced. Neither are aggressive they are just excited to see you.
Due to Dan's untimely death, Cooper and Lucy are living alone in Dan's home while family members prepare the home for sale. Soon, difficult decisions will need to be made, since there are no family members who can take in these two dogs.
