DESCRIPTION
Luna, or Looney Tuna as I affectionately call her, is a 2 year old black German Shepherd female. She is spayed, current on vaccines and flea preventive. She is a typical German Shepherd and we want someone with breed experience for her. She is smart, inquisitive, loyal, and protective. She did not do well when a new dog was introduced into her home and so we are not placing her in a home with smaller animals (this is why she was surrendered to us). I do feel that she would be okay with smaller animals if they were properly introduced and supervised but Luna would probably love to be an only pet with your undivided attention. Luna did not get the best socialization in her formative months so she tends to bark at new people she meets but she has never offered to bite anyone. She is housebroken and crate trained, although this is not a breed you can leave crated all day without companionship or a job. Bored German Shepherds are unhappy, destructive, and frustrated. She loves sitting in chairs - office chairs, tiny kid recliners, if she can fit, she wants to sit there. She learns very quickly and knows sit, down, and come as well as shake a paw. She would not be a good apartment or communal living dog (trailer part, apartments, camps) - she needs room to get daily exercise and mental stimulation. Given her lack of exposure to, and high prey drive, she would probably not be good with free range birds or ducks. She likes food puzzles, squeaky toys, and kong toys with treats inside. She has been known to eat her bed when she's bored in her crate and more than a few fluffy stuffing parties have occurred while at the vet clinic. If you have GSD experience and are looking for a new best friend, Looney Tuna Luna may be just the dog for you.
