Sunny - German Shepherd Dog Dog for Adoption in Chesterfield, Missouri

Meet Sunny — Just three legs... but a whole lot of love to give! He’s ready to brighten your life!

Sunny’s life hasn’t been easy, but this hasn’t dimmed his golden spirit. After an accident left his right front elbow shattered, his owner surrendered him to animal control because they couldn’t afford veterinary care. Sadly, Sunny lost his right front leg, but he hasn’t lost his ability to love, his zest for life, or his enthusiasm for squeaky toys! We’re sure that this special tripod boy will steal your heart.

Two-year-old Sunny is now part of the Serendipity Pack. He is on the road to recovery and looking forward to his next chapter. At just 60 pounds, he’s underweight for a German Shepherd, but we are carefully helping him gain weight at a pace that’s right for his three-legged body. He’s got some healing and growing stronger to do, but he’s already proving what a special boy he is. His injury hasn’t impacted his willingness to learn or his enthusiasm for new adventures.

So, what’s life with Sunny like? Pretty wonderful, if you ask us! He is a very sweet, affectionate boy who loves human companionship. He does well with medium and large dogs and would love to meet potential canine companions. Cat-friendly charm – he’s got it! He’s respectful of adult cats who are used to large dogs, making him a possible fit for a home with feline family members. Sunny is a good housemate, too! He’s both house-trained and crate-trained, so he already has some important home-life skills under his belt.

Sunny may have three legs, but he has a whole lot of heart. He’ll need a family willing to give him time to heal and make sure his activities are appropriate for his recovery. In return, you’ll get a sweet German Shepherd who deserves a fresh start. Sunny isn’t looking for sympathy, but he is looking for a family who will celebrate his progress, cheer him on, and remind him every day that he's right where he belongs.
