Somehow, after everything she’s been through, Lyla still believes in people…
Lyla is a beautiful 9-year-old German Shepherd with a calm spirit and a heart full of love. Found wandering alone on a rural property, she waited patiently for a family who never came—but now she’s ready for a fresh start with someone who will never let her go.
At around 50 pounds, Lyla is a perfect medium size—easy to handle and just right for cozy companionship. Lyla is a perfect leash walker and an excellent car rider, making her an easy addition to just about any lifestyle. Because she’s in her golden years, a home with minimal stairs to navigate would be ideal, helping her stay comfortable and safe as she settles into her new life.
When Lyla was first found, her coat was covered in ticks and clearly hadn’t been cared for in quite some time. But with a little TLC, she has absolutely transformed—her coat is now soft, sleek, and shiny, a true reflection of how well she’s feeling inside and out. And if you look closely, you’ll notice one of her sweetest features: an adorable white tip on her tail that gives her a little extra charm.
Lyla is the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much—just a safe place to rest, a kind voice, and someone to love. She takes the world in stride with quiet confidence and gentle curiosity. Despite everything she’s been through, her sweet nature shines through in every interaction. At the vet’s office, during transport, and while boarding, Lyla has shown us just how special she is by remaining relaxed and non-reactive around dogs and people alike. Although she hasn’t been tested with cats, given her gentle nature, she would likely be fine sharing her space with them.
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion to share your days with, Lyla may be the perfect match. She's waiting patiently to find her forever home, and opening your heart to a senior dog like Lyla is an incredibly rewarding experience. Older dogs often bring a sense of appreciation and deep connection that’s truly special—they seem to understand they’ve been given a second chance, and they love you all the more for it.
Lyla qualifies for our Seniors FUREVER program, with two available options:
(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $400, and this becomes a perpetual fee. You can adopt another SGSDR senior dog at any time from us in the future at NO CHARGE.
(2) If you aren't sure about your future adoption capacity, you may adopt your SGSDR senior dog for a reduced adoption fee of $250
