DESCRIPTION
Meet Mateo: part athlete, part shadow, part hose-obsessed goober, and 100% sweetheart.Mateo is looking for an active home where the toy supply is plentiful, the walks are long and sniffy, the dog beds are soft, and cuddling is considered a legitimate evening activity. He has a lot of energy, but he also knows how to use it: give this boy a good long walk and he is more than happy to spend the rest of the workday snoozing nearby while you answer emails or having an appropriate chew on a stuffy. And by "nearby," we mean nearby. Mateo is a certified shadow. Working at your desk? He'll find a blanket on the floor, or a strategic nearby dog bed. Sitting on the couch? He'll squeeze into whatever six-inch space remains beside you.Need a weighted blanket? Mateo is available for hire. His Dorito-shaped head and impressively long snoot are also surprisingly useful. That nose can retrieve balls from under furniture, sneak underneath your arm for affection, and somehow slither into the tiniest possible opening between you and the couch cushion.Mateo LOVES toys. Balls, squeakers, anything throwable - he's interested. He may also have a promising future in veterinary medicine, because the precision with which he removes a squeaker from a toy can only be described as surgical.Water, however, is his true calling.Watering the plants? Mateo would like to assist.Using the hose? Mateo has cleared his schedule.Spraying water across the yard? Congratulations, you have just created the greatest game in recorded history. He is also enthusiastic about pest control.Squirrels, birds, bugs - Mateo keeps tabs on all of them. But his favorite things to chase are still a ball and the spray from the hose.Mateo would also love a playful dog sibling. In fact, he sometimes gets SO excited when he sees another dog that he whines, squeals, and occasionally sounds like he is filing an urgent formal request to PLAY WITH THAT DOG IMMEDIATELY. His social skills may lack subtlety, but his intentions are very sweet. He's goofy, affectionate, energetic, cuddly, and wonderfully enthusiastic about basically everything.Mateo's dream home has:People who enjoy long walks and an active lifestylePlenty of toys and ballsAccess to a hose, sprinkler, kiddie pool, or other approved water-based entertainmentSoft beds and blanketsLots of affectionBonus points for a playful dog friendIf your ideal dog is one who will adventure with you, make you laugh, supervise your gardening, surgically dismantle a squeaker, and then curl up directly on top of you afterward, Mateo may be your guy.
