Ellie - German Shepherd Dog and Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Amherst, Massachusetts

Meet Ellie!

A gentle seventeen-year-old German Shepherd mix currently in Chula Vista, CA, Ellie is open to a loving home anywhere in the U.S. This sweet girl carries a quiet wisdom and a growing love for outdoor adventures, especially long sniff-filled walks and breezy beach days. Ellie weighs around 33 pounds and may have a touch of hound in her lineage, which shows in her curious nose and thoughtful pace.

She can be timid when meeting new people, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she blossoms into an affectionate companion who leans in close without a single lick. Ellie is neutral with other dogs and enjoys calmly sharing space, and she is comfortable riding in the car for her next outing. She knows how to sit with a hand gesture and would enjoy learning more through positive reinforcement and consistent routines that help her feel secure.

Sensitive to raised voices, Ellie thrives in a calm, caring environment where kindness leads the way. She has begun to experience age-related changes, including some vision decline and possible hearing changes, and she has a benign lump that is monitored, but she remains bright and engaged on her daily walks. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and happily enjoys her Freshpet meals.

In her current routine, Ellie relishes regular outings and has truly come alive with park visits and seaside explorations. She would be compatible with a patient family who can offer gentle guidance, steady structure, and plenty of time outdoors. Toward the end of each day, she settles in with a peaceful presence that brings calm to everyone around her. She delights in gentle routines, cozy naps, and quietly observing the world beside her people.

Could she be the one to join your family story next?
