DESCRIPTION

Sol ☀️ | ~2 years | 52 lbs | Shepherd-Husky Mix

If you are an experienced owner of dog breeds like Shepherd, Husky, or Malamutes, keep reading. We are looking for both fosters and adopters.

I’m Sol. I’m a very affectionate dog who loves her people deeply.
I was rescued from a high kill shelter in the nick of time. I’ve been bouncing between fosters ever since, and I’m ready to just have a place to call home. Home changes are confusing, but I have been settling in well by the 4th day! I’m currently being fostered by an amazing foster family.

At home I’m easy. I’m potty and crate trained, and I’m happy just hanging on the couch after a walk. I love cuddles and bonding time with my humans. A dog sibling or friend would mean the world to me, because I love playing with dogs I connect with. I had been matching the rough play style of huskies and shepherds.

The one thing I struggle with is other dogs on leash. I get frustrated, bark and pull, and it’s something I’m actively working on. I do well on quiet trails where I can keep a distance from other dogs; it’s more the busy city streets that are hard. But the trainers I’ve worked with and my rescue family believes the practice on quieter trails is going to set me up for success. Whoever adopts me would just need to keep the training going and we’ll make sure you know exactly how.

A dog-busy neighborhood probably isn’t the right fit at the moment. Neither an apartment. I’m hoping to find a home in a suburb, with access to trail walks.

I’ve been waiting for my person for a few months now. I hope that’s you.

[IMPORTANT]
—————————————————————————-
Below listed requirements are for any dogs we adopt out, meant for everyone’s safety.

• If you have other dogs, then you must also be knowledgeable and have good hands on experience with running a multi-dog home to be able to adopt a dog from us. What’s expected of the adopter is just keeping basic house rules like (1) keep the dogs apart when feeding, monitor & put away left over food, (2) help them build mutual trust before leaving alone with treats, toys around (3) keep dogs out of kitchen when handling food etc

• As with any dog, earn their trust around food handling. This is an essential training for every dog, so they learn to trust their new human. It takes only a couple of practice sessions around meal time with most dogs with no history of food guarding. Teaching to sit, then hand-feeding food & high value treats is one of the best ways to earn trust.

• If you have children at home, they should be at least 8+ yrs, and know to safely & respectfully interact with dogs, to be considered for adoption. We think families with younger children will likely not have the time needed to exercise and nourish a new dog. And the time needed to train little kids to safely interact with dogs, read their body language & respect their personal space. Most dogs do not enjoy little ones clinging to them, pulling their fur, crawling or lying on them. We do not want to risk the safety of neither your child nor our dog. Follow @dogmeets_baby trainer on Instagram to learn more on this topic :-)
Of course, we understand there are exceptions and some parents are on top with this. Please contact us if you are one of those exceptional parents :)

• We discourage the use of choke, pinch, prong collars on our dogs. Training to walk on a well fitted no-pull harness is encouraged. All our dogs come with a “no-pull” harness.
If needed for training, you can use humane collars like regular buckle collars, martingale collars or ‘gentle leader’.

Thank you for considering to adopt a husky in need.

God bless!
