Meet Baby Boy !!
This poor guy has been through a lot. He was used as a breeder and made his owner a lot of money. Despite that, he ended up here with us. He came to us with so many fleas his skin looked black, he had a tumor, was missing an eye, his teeth are worn down to almost nothing, and he was covered in a nasty crusty scabby skin infection. This poor guy was so uncomfortable due to his condition.
Thankfully members of the community stepped up and helped us fund surgery and much needed care for him. He is doing so much better now and on the path to recovery. ***Please read full post about his medical needs***
Baby Boy is a male French Bulldog. He is said to be 6 years old but may be older. He weighs 29 pounds and is full grown.
He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is Heartworm negative and on prevention. He also had the surgery done to help correct his breathing. He is missing one eye but gets around just fine with his remaining eye.
Overall Baby Boy has done really well with his training and manners. He is the most loving and sweet dog you will ever meet. He thinks he’s a real baby and wants to be held and hugged constantly. He just loves to be close to you. It’s really adorable.
He does great on car rides and is good on a leash. He has been amazing with all the vet visits he has had even when they had to do a few painful pokes and tests.
He is good about his crate training but will get vocal in the crate at times if he thinks he’s missing out on fun. He’s doing pretty good with potty training but does mark his territory inside. He was just neutered this week so we are hoping that behavior will fade away. He’s good about wearing his belly band inside. He is great about bath time and has been very good with all medical treatments like eye drops etc.
Baby Boy does very well with other dogs but is also happy to be the only dog if you don't have others. He prefers calmer dogs over hyper ones. He’s had no issues living with cats and ignores them.
He has not been fostered with kids but has such a sweet loving, unbothered by anything personality, he would likely do great with them. He has zero idea about personal space and wants to be sitting on top of you so that might scare tiny kids. He’s never done anything aggressive he just knows you need his love and hugs even if you don’t realize you do at that moment
Baby Boy currently has a lower energy level. He loves toys and playing but tires out quickly when doing any activity. He is great on outings but has limited stamina. He mostly just wants to cuddle 24/7. We can’t explain enough how much he loves to be close to you. He would probably crawl inside your skin if he could. His love language is being cuddled up on you like a newborn baby. His energy level is very easy to manage. A bit of toy play here and there and he’s content.
He has shown no aggression towards people or dogs at all. He has been fine sharing food, treats and toys with others. He has no idea what a stranger is and will immediately demand love from anyone and everyone.
Baby Boy has the sweetest personality of any frenchie we’ve met. He’s loving, cuddly and gentle. Sadly he was used for his ability to make money (puppies) and then discarded. We hope someone will give him the life he always deserved for whatever time he has left.
***Health*** Baby Boy came to us in really bad shape. He is overall doing much better but still has some concerns. She had an odd bump or tumor type thing on his shoulders. That has been surgically removed and sent for testing. There is a chance it could be cancer but we are not sure yet. His teeth are very worn down to almost nothing but he eats fine despite that. He is missing one eye and the other isn’t perfect but he does well getting around. His breathing was horrible but his recent nasal surgery seems to have helped a ton. During surgery they did an xray and discovered his rear hip joint pretty much doesn’t exist and likely never did (Great genetics to have been breeding right..... We had no idea about his leg due to how well he compensates for it.
He has some typical bulldog skin issues but is doing really well with regular bathes and decent care. He is getting older and may have some arteritis and common older dog issues arise.
Whoever adopts him will need to have enough funds to provide him with basic vet care along with potential pain management if he has cancer and becomes more of a hospice case. We want someone in a financial position to make sure he has everything a dog could want or need so he never has to be used or neglected again.
