Meet Elga!!
This unique little lady is a bit of an oddity. She is not your normal mix and has a look you don’t see often. We think she is adorable and who can resist those teefers!!
Elga is a 6 year old, female. She is said to be a French Bulldog and Poodle mix. She weighs 28 pounds and is close to full grown.
“Doodles” ARE NOT HYPOALLERGENIC!! This is a common misconception with the doodle craze. They generally have a mixed hair type of both parents and can still shed and cause allergies. She still sheds just like a regular dog.
She is already spayed and up to date on vaccines. She will also be microchipped as part of her adoption. She is thankfully Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Her adoption also includes her upcoming dental cleaning that she needs.
Elga is a very sweet girl. She can be shy at first and need some time to adjust. She gets a little overwhelmed with a lot of change and will just go into her kennel and stay there. Once she feels safe she becomes very snuggly and happy to be wherever you are.
She does fine with other dogs but can be initially afraid of them. She does best with a calmer companion that gives her some space until she knows they won’t hurt her. She lived with Gustacho (posted separately) and they did really well together.
Elga is not fostered with cats so we do not know how she would do with them. She is not fostered with kids either but her previous family said she is fine with them. As long as kids are respectful and don’t treat her like a toy we think she will do great.
She has been doing really well with her training overall. She is doing great with her potty training. She has done well on car rides. She is crate trained and uses it as a safe space but she can be very vocal at first when she hears things in the home. She will alert a lot to sounds etc until she settles in and understands the flow of the home. Due to the vocal behavior she would not make a good apartment dog. She has done well with leash walking but also has a great recall off leash.
Elga has not had any issues sharing toys or treats with humans or other dogs so far. She is fed separately in her crate and has not had any reaction to other dogs walking by her food. She is fine with people taking her food.
So far she has a lower energy level but we expect that to go up a little some as she settles in. She does love to run around and explore the yard but is fairly relaxed and low energy inside the house. She will still need some playtime and exercise but is not overly demanding with her exercise needs.
Elga is a sweet girl that would love to be your shadow and best friend. She is already trained and ready to merge into your family and bring you teeth filled smiles or joy.
