Got Kids? Here's your Nanny dog! Great family dog for an active family with kids! This is a go-everywhere with you doggo. Maude is a 4 yr old female foxhound mix that is about 40#s. She is everyone's favorite in our rescue and with at the vet's with both staff and vets.
Maudie is very friendly, affectionate, playful and gentle. While she is elegant and noble-looking (with that super long nose), Maudie Moo can be a funny, goofy girl. Cuddle on the couch watching BBC series with you? Yes, please. Playing with stuffies (her favorite) outside in the yard with you? Oh, please. Hiking? Really?! Oh, yes! How about a high school foot ball game? With all of you!? Please don't leave me out of that! She's loaded with skills: crate-trained, house-broken, rides good in the car, loves everyone, kids included (!), great with other dogs and good with cats and is good on the leash.
She loves kids! You never need worry about your children or your children's friends, so go ahead and have that sleepover, she'll be snuggled up with them!
Her perfect home is where she is an integral part of the family and receives the exercise, adventures and love she yearns for. A fenced in yard is a MUST.
Our dog adoption donation is $300, totally vetted; already neutered/spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and boosters, including rabies, distemper, Bordetella, also wormed, de-flead (already on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventative, 4DX tested negative, and micro-chipped!
If you are interested in meeting/adopting this dog please submit an application by clicking this link; https://www.culpeperhumane.org/adoptions/application/
Once submitted, the vet reference you provided will be contacted (if no vet, please provide 3 personal references, may be family and friends if they have a dog that you interact with), and our Director of Adoptions will schedule a phone interview with you. If approved, the Adoption Coordinator contacts you to schedule a home visit (virtual). Once approved, you will be contacted by the foster parent to discuss the dog and arrange the logistics for a visit/adoption. Should both you and the foster parent agree it is a good match. Our rescue group does not have a brick and mortar facility, all our animals are home fostered in our foster volunteers’ homes. You will be visiting a private residence. The application does not oblige you to adopt, nor does the visitation; the application gives us more information to help ensure an appropriate, suitable and good match.
Not first come, first served, but the best possible match made.
Our policy is that we always take our animals back should it prove to be a less than perfect match, or if you are unable or unwilling to care for the animal any longer. We just don't want the animal to go back into the system. It is also our policy NOT to adopt to families with intact dogs or cats (unless there is a medical reason for not doing so). This is an effort to educate and support our national spay/neuter efforts to reduce the unwanted pet population.
We adopt to all of VA, DC and parts of lower MD. Occasionally we will do out of state adoptions, but our preference is given to those aforementioned states. If we need to reclaim or pet is surrendered back, we need to ensure that it is within our epi-center.
Thank you for considering an unwanted and abandoned dog, and being part of the rescue efforts.
