Meet Rooster

Rooster is a very handsome 2-year-old Labrador Retriever/Schnauzer mix weighing approximately 26 pounds—a wonderful medium-small size that's big enough for adventures but still easy to take just about anywhere.

With his slightly scruffy black coat and beautiful warm brown eyes, Rooster is one seriously handsome dog. But his gentle personality is what really makes him special.

We rescued Rooster from the kill list at one of our overcrowded local shelters. When he first came to us, he was incredibly shy and frightened and didn't quite know what to make of people or his new surroundings.

What a difference a little love and safety can make.

Now Rooster is wagging his tail, enjoying life in his foster home, and discovering that people can be kind. Every day we get to see a little more of the sweet, happy dog who was hiding underneath all that fear.

Rooster is incredibly gentle, quiet, affectionate, and eager to please. He has a soft nature and gets along beautifully with both people and other dogs. He isn't demanding or boisterous—he simply wants to feel safe, be loved, and belong to someone.

At only 2 years old, Rooster has his whole life ahead of him. He's looking for a loving home that will continue to give him the confidence and security he's found in foster care and let him blossom into the wonderful dog we already know he is.
He's sweet. He's quiet. He's dog friendly. He's the perfect size. And those warm brown eyes will absolutely melt you.

Rooster came frighteningly close to never getting the chance to have this life. Now all he needs is someone to make sure he gets to keep it.
