Gunner: The LapLoving Bird Enthusiast With Springs for Legs
Location: Midway, GA
If you've ever wished for a dog who is equal parts snuggle buddy, outdoor adventurer, and accidental comedian, meet Gunner — a 5yearold, 57pound gentleman currently perfecting the art of being both a couch ornament and a backyard athlete.
Personality & Progress
Indoors, Gunner is a certified cuddle professional. He believes laps exist for one reason and one reason only: him. He melts into you like warm butter and sighs dramatically to let you know he's reached peak comfort.
Outdoors, however? Whole different dog. Gunner becomes a oneman birdwatching committee — sprinting, leaping, and politely (okay, loudly) inviting every bird in the sky to come down and play. He's convinced they're just shy.
He's been a hit at the vet, charming every staff member he's met. His background is a mystery, but his future is bright — he's loving, adaptable, and ready for a home that appreciates both his snuggly and silly sides.
Energy & Lifestyle
Gunner is a “choose your own adventure” companion. Want a snuggly movie buddy? Done. Want a walking partner who gets excited about life? Also done. Want a dog who will enthusiastically patrol your yard for airborne intruders? He's already on it.
Because he can jump and has a strong prey drive, he will need a tall physical fence (over 5 ft) to keep his enthusiasm safely contained.
Training, Manners & Medical
Medical: Gunner is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. He takes NexGard for flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Housebroken: Yes. He marked before neuter, but that has improved since surgery.
Crate trained: He'll go in with a little encouragement and settles well.
Leash skills: Pretty good! He may get excited, but he's manageable and eager.
Commands: Familiar with some, though formal training is unknown.
Resource guarding: None observed.
Separation: He may bark or cry for a few minutes when someone leaves, but he settles quickly.
Special needs: None.
Dog, Cat & Kid Compatibility
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes He hasn't lived with small children, but he briefly interacted with a young niece and didn't react negatively.
Funniest Gunner Moments
Gunner's signature move is his “bird invitation dance.” He'll sprint around the yard, leap into the air, and bark up at the sky as if he's hosting a neighborhood block party for sparrows. The birds, tragically, never RSVP — but Gunner remains hopeful.
Ideal Home
Gunner will thrive in a home that appreciates both sides of his personality: the soft, snuggly lap dog and the joyful, birdobsessed athlete. A tall fenced yard is essential, and an adopter who enjoys a mix of affection, silliness, and outdoor fun will adore him. He's adaptable, loving, and ready to match whatever energy his humans bring.
If you're looking for a dog who will warm your lap, make you laugh daily, and remind you to look up at the sky every now and then, Gunner is your guy.
