Richard - English Pointer and Bluetick Coonhound Dog for Adoption in Andover, Massachusetts

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Richard, a 1 yr +9 month old (11/4) English Pointer/Blue Tick Coonhound mix, weighing approx. 40 pounds (as of 7/19/26). A Southern gentlemen to his core, Richard was surrendered by his owners in North Carolina because they were dealing with tough life changes and could no longer care for him. Richard will always love his previous owners, but he's got even more love to give to you!

Look at that face! When he's not showing off his pearly whites around town as a toothpaste ambassador for Crest, Richard spends his days playing with dogs of all sizes, especially his foster's Great Pyrenees. He plays harder with dogs his size and age so he hopes to find more playmates!

Richard is happy and energetic and he'll be the perfect companion during a summer heat wave since he also loves the water! Guess you'll have a pool buddy! Richard appears to be house-trained, is crate-trained and is leash-trained (though he pulls a little), so he's ready to go on your next adventure. Maybe the beach? He hasn't met kids yet, but he has been exposed to cats. Richard is a friendly guy to all and can't wait to have you grinning as wide as he does every single day!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application.
