Meet Cece - Your New Best Friend in the Making!
Looking for a loyal companion to share life's adventures? Look no further-Cece is ready to steal your heart!
Cece is a 1.5-year-old, 60 lb Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) mix with a stunning soft, reddish-brown coat and a heart as big as her paws. Though initially shy, this sweet girl quickly warms up and is eager to soak up all the love and attention she can get.
In public, Cece is calm and collected-almost like a therapy dog. She sees no such thing as a stranger, only friends she hasn't met yet. Expect her to make the rounds to ensure everyone gets a chance to pet her. She's even been known to climb into laps to maximize the cuddles
Cece is great with children, including toddlers, but she does startle easily and may retreat if approached too quickly or enthusiastically. She's generally indifferent to other dogs in public and is easily redirected on walks. She has had mixed success with direct introductions and is considered dog selective. For this reason, a slow and structured introduction is recommended for any resident dogs, and a dog-to-dog meet will be required before adoption.
This girl is a dream on leash-she walks close and checks in often. She enjoys a relaxed pace and plenty of sniffing time. Car rides are a favorite, and she'll happily jump in and take in the sights with her head out the window
At home, Cece's playful side shines. She loves lounging on the couch surrounded by her beloved toys and blankets. She's especially fond of squeaky toys and is great at entertaining herself. But when you get her attention, her little tail nub wiggles so hard her whole body joins in
Cece is mostly house-trained and crate-trained. She reliably holds it overnight and does well as long as she's let out regularly. She can be left out during the day for short periods (up to 3 hours) without issue, but longer stretches are best spent in a crate.
One of Cece's quirks? She's a bit of a collector-shoes, clothes, blankets, you name it! Most of the time, she just gathers her treasures, though there's been one (unproven) allegation of hat destruction. With proper toys and bones, she's non-destructive and easygoing indoors.
Cece is heartworm positive but will complete her treatment-fully covered by the shelter-after adoption. She's not letting a few icky worms slow her down!
If Cece sounds like your kind of pup (and trust us, she is), visit Guilford County Animal Services any day except Tuesday between 12-4 p.m. Cece will be waiting, wiggly tail and all!
