BIO: Frankie needs your help! He came from Tennessee and was not socialized as a puppy, so he’s fearful of new people. With his foster family, he has warmed up, and he will with you, too. Together, you and Frankie can build his confidence and bond. This youngster is very playful and loving!

This little guy doesn’t do well with strangers. That’s where you come in! Help this boy understand that no one is out to get him, he is safe with you, and strangers are okay. It will take time and patience, but overcoming his fear of the unknown will benefit him. Slow introductions are best for new environments, friends and family, and low-stress exposure to other (calm) dogs. When he does a good job, reward him with treats!

He also was not neutered until we got him, which did not help his anxiety, but now that he is - and with your help - we think he will make a wonderful pet!

He loves to play with other dogs and loves his toys but may guard them. He loves to play fetch, but don’t expect him to bring the ball back!

If you are willing to take a chance on Frankie and help him grow, he’s willing to take a chance on you!

Our must-haves for adorable Frankie include:
- A fenced yard
- Someone who can be home more often than not
- Another small young female dog or he can be an only dog
- No apartments, high-rises, or condos
- Someone who has patience as he adjusts to a new home

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
