Like all Dachshunds, Buddy enjoys playing and warming their little bones in the sunshine, along with regular walks Buddy needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments. Therefore we adopt to families who live in single family homes (or Duplexes) with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA:

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have found that the following criteria best sets up our doxies and their new families for success.

Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We generally do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together. We prefer non-smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

All our dogs are vetted and vaccinated. If available, they’ll come with a few goodies to get you started (food, toys and a harness). The adoption fee is $695, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet/dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Buddy a happy, carefree forever home? If interested, please complete the adoption application at:

Oregon Dachshund Rescue https://www.odr-inc.org/adopt and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net

Our adoption coordinator will attempt to contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
Thank you for supporting our rescue efforts!

The dachshund is a small dog breed known for its long body, short legs, and distinctive appearance. Originally bred for hunting badgers, these playful and loyal dogs make loving companions for families. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired each with its own unique charm. Despite their size, dachshunds are bold and courageous, with a curious nature that can sometimes lead to mischief. Their endearing personality and adaptability make them popular pets worldwide.
