Ember - Dachshund Dog for Adoption in Merrillville, Indiana

This is Ember the firey dachshund. She is a young adult spayed female, estimated at 2yrs of age. She is in need of a dachshund person! Ember is the most loving doxie once she trusts you. She enjoys the company of other dogs and cats.

She is fully vetted and on parasite prevention.


The difficult part of her situation is she is an emotional wreck in new surroundings the first few days. When she goes to a new place she shuts down as a defense mechanism and gets submissive and snappy. Then a couple days later she is your best friend and wants to snuggle and kiss.
If you decide to adopt Ember you will have to be willing to take her home and not cuddle for a couple days. She wants her space in the beginning but WOW when she loves she doesn't give you any personal space!

Ember is housetrained but will also pee on a pee pad if needed. Ember is fine with car rides but she is what you would call a homebody, and prefers spending her time at home. She is a great eater and enjoys running in the yard. Are you a dachshund person needing another doxie in your life? You won't regret this one!
