Hi, I'm Lincoln — but you can call me Linc. I'm two years old, I've got a goofy face, an even goofier personality, and a zest for life that tends to win people over in about five seconds flat. I came to DARE after a medical emergency required amputating a few toes on one foot, but don't let that fool you — it hasn't slowed me down one bit. I'm just as happy chasing a squeaky toy, sunbathing on the patio, cooling my paws on the top pool step, or riding shotgun with my ears flapping in the breeze. I walk beautifully on a leash and I'm always up for an adventure, especially one that involves a car ride. And if you give me something soft to burrow under? I am gone — life is simply better under a blanket.
My Ideal Home
Good with other dogs, kids of all ages, and everyone in the house. I do best with an adopter who gives me calm, confident structure and consistent boundaries — Dachshunds like me thrive on it.
A Few Important Things to Know
- Toe amputation history: I lost several toes on one foot in a medical emergency before coming to DARE, but I've fully recovered and it doesn't limit my activity at all.
- Needs structure: I can get a little possessive of "my person" if boundaries aren't maintained, so I do best with a family that provides consistent leadership and clear rules.
- The grumbles: I've got a signature old-man grumble I use to voice my opinions. It's just how I talk — I've never bitten anyone — but we're working on better communication habits.
What I Bring to the Table
By day, I hang out in the home office with my foster family and their other dogs, snoozing nearby and taking breaks for playtime and sunshine — I'm truly happiest just being part of the pack. At night I sleep in my own crate alongside my foster siblings, though given how much I love a good couch snuggle, I have a feeling I wouldn't object to an upgrade to the bed in my forever home. I'm playful, hilarious, loyal, and ready to keep someone smiling for a long time to come.
