Maeve is ready for cozy naps, morning coffee, and a family to love.

This sweet dachshund mix is around 10 years old and weighs 22 pounds. Found at midnight in Roger Williams Park and never reclaimed from Providence Animal Control, she is now enjoying life in a foster home while waiting for her forever family.

Maeve is a wonderful morning coffee buddy who loves sitting in your lap and finding warm, comfy places to sleep. She’s great with other dogs, loves everyone she meets, and enjoys being outdoors. She loves walks and is great on the leash!

She is 100% house trained and sleeps through the night in her crate, provided it’s in the same room as her people.

Maeve does have mild separation anxiety. When left alone, her foster’s cameras show her whining, howling, and repeatedly moving between the door and window. No barking has been observed so far. Apartment adopters, especially those who work outside the home, should carefully consider her vocalizing and comfort when alone. She’ll need a patient family willing to help her feel secure.

Maeve has been vet checked, is heartworm negative, and is up to date on vaccines and flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. She is currently being treated for Lyme disease and will need dental care. She may have gone without proper veterinary care before coming to rescue.

Her spay status is unknown, and her adopter will need to arrange an ultrasound after adoption to confirm. If she is not already spayed, her adopter will be responsible for having her spayed or obtaining a veterinary medical exemption if her veterinarian determines surgery is not appropriate.

Maeve has so much love to give and deserves a family committed to her care, comfort, and companionship.

The dachshund is a small dog breed known for its long body, short legs, and distinctive appearance. Originally bred for hunting badgers, these playful and loyal dogs make loving companions for families. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired each with its own unique charm. Despite their size, dachshunds are bold and courageous, with a curious nature that can sometimes lead to mischief. Their endearing personality and adaptability make them popular pets worldwide.
