HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Fill out the application and we will follow up with you! We will connect
you to his foster!
LOCATION: Foster home
ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Sue B (sueb@homewardtrails.org)
ADOPTION FEE: $615
ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 18 lbs.
ESTIMATED AGE: 4 yrs
KNOWN WITH DOGS: Max has lived with other dogs well. As a typical Dachshund, he can get possessive
of his favorite human and become grouchy. He would be best served with someone who has Dachshund
experience and can navigate his needs and attitude. He may enjoy another dog who respects his space
or he may enjoy being an only dog where he can hog up all the attention!
KNOWN WITH CATS: Unknown at this time but we can explore if needed.
KNOWN WITH KIDS: Max has done well with kids. However, we do think he'll be best served with
adults or older kids since he has been known to resource guard a human. He also seems to prefer
women over men at this time. Kids teenagers or older would be preferred.
KNOWN COMMANDS: We are learning about his knowledge of commands.
KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Max is said to be fully housebroken. We are learning
about whether he will need or take to a crate.
KNOWN LIKES: He loves people, going for walks and treats. He even did well at the groomer for a nail
clip!
KNOWN DISLIKES: Sharing his human with too many other bossy dogs. He can also get anxious around
crowds or too many people and noises, so Max will do best in a calmer home.
ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Max was given up when his owner could no longer care for him. He was well
cared for but appears to be a tad bit under-socialized. He's gaining confidence in foster and doing well.
He'd love a home with someone who knows the breed and can allow him to be his best, handsome self!
