Here is yet another owner surrender due to a family hardship, Duck, for your loving consideration! Duck was clearly very loved by his previous owners, but this transition has been an anxious one as there is always confusion when a pet leaves their first family. That said, hes very loving and friendly, he just takes a little time in the beginning.
Duck is completely housebroken, and especially enjoys his current 3-4 walks each day. He also knows some basic commands and is very well behaved around food (no begging whatsoever). Duck has not been crate trained because he is able to behave himself in his foster home and sleeps peacefully in bed all night long. His preferred toys are stuffed squeaky toys, and he knows how to play fetch!
When meeting someone new, Duck is sociable, but slightly anxious at first (only a couple of minutes). Hes comfortable going up and sniffing a new person and will welcome pets once he is confident that he is making a friend. Hes only been around dogs on leash, but seems gentle and curious with them. He barks at bit when dogs are across the street, but has no issue when theyre near him. He enjoyed playing with an 11 year old child at a Fourth of July party, so we are confident that he is good with children older than 10. He has not been tested with younger children yet.
Duck's favorite pastimes are herding all of his people into the same room, sitting on the windowsill to watch cars go by, and playing fetch with his squeaky toys. His fosters have fun asking him questions and seeing his little head go side to side. When hes in a cuddly mood, hell put his two front paws on your chest and present his neck for kisses! What a great Ducky boy! He is genuinely a very chill boy who will snuggle up next to you on the couch on a lazy Sunday afternoon at home.
Duck is not yet neutered, but is UTD on vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, he is eligible to be neutered for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt! Our local vet participates, and you may just find yours does too!
