Victor's Story

At just 5 months old and 14.4 pounds, Victor should have been busy being a puppy—not spending weeks scared in a shelter kennel.

Victor came in with his sibling and was understandably very timid. When people approached, he would retreat, tuck his tail, and sometimes shake when someone tried to touch him. He wasn't aggressive—he was simply scared.

He's listed as a Husky mix, although honestly, Victor looks much more like a little Collie mix to us! Whatever he is, he's absolutely adorable.

Staff also saw the sweet puppy underneath his fear. He enjoyed enrichment, rested quietly on his bed beside his sibling, and one staff member was able to help him relax with soft baby talk and treats. Those little moments showed that Victor just needs someone willing to be patient and let him come out of his shell at his own pace.

Thankfully, his shelter days are behind him.

Victor is coming to LOLA's on September 2nd, where he gets the chance to learn that people can be kind, hands can be gentle, and he is safe.

He may need a little time at first—but the person who earns this little guy's trust is going to have one very special friend.

Victor's second chance starts September 2nd.

The Collie is a graceful and intelligent dog known for their loyalty, gentle nature, and exceptional herding abilities. They come in two coat varieties, rough and smooth, with colors ranging from sable and white to blue merle. Collies excel in obedience training and thrive on mental stimulation and physical activity. Their keen intuition and strong bond with their owners make them wonderful family pets and reliable working dogs in tasks such as herding livestock or in search and rescue missions.

The husky breed is renowned for its striking appearance, characterized by piercing eyes and a thick double coat. These medium sized, energetic dogs are known for their friendly and outgoing personalities, making them wonderful companions for active families. Originally bred for sledding and endurance in cold climates, huskies are intelligent and independent, often displaying a strong prey drive. Proper training and regular exercise are crucial to keep these playful and social animals happy and well adjusted.
