Cocker Spaniel Dogs Available for Adoption in Murphysboro, Illinois

Louie, Louie! Oh baby, take me where ya gotta go! This guy will steal your heart, and dance right off with it!

Louie came to us after ending up at an animal control from a very neglectful situation. He was extremely emaciated, weak, dehydrated and full of intestinal parasites. His parasite load and lack of care was so bad he was notably anemic and had little energy...but nothing is stopping him now! After several weeks of intensive care, quality nutrition and overdue medical help, Louie is now jamming to his favorite tunes in the sunshine and chasing his favorite toys all day!

We don't know exactly what Louie is mixed with but we were told that his mother was a Cocker Spaniel, which we do see a lot of spaniel in him. However, his supermodel long legs make us think he's going to be a taller, leaner adult and another larger spaniel or pointer might be in there somewhere. He's currently just shy of 4 months old and 15lbs, gaining quickly!

Louie has been a dream puppy...no really! He has never had an accident in his foster mom's house and will give cues at the door to be let out. He even learned the dog door in the first 2 days. He is wonderfully crate trained and also has never had an accident in his crate...no really! He has a special independent streak and will happily find a toy or stick outside to play with and keep himself occupied. We assume Louie didn't get the most interaction with humans in his first part of life and learned to stay busy on his own. Now he shares a foster home with humans who adore him and many other dogs that he is learning to rough house with and chase. When Louie is worn out from a busy afternoon, he puts himself to sleep in any open dog bed he can find. He sounds perfect, we know and he's about as close as you can get for a pup his age. Don't be fooled, however! He still likes to try to chase your pant leg while you walk through the house or chew on your shoe. He gets those adorable puppy zoomies in the house and those gangly legs occasionally crash out into your furniture. He likes to grab the tails of his foster siblings when they aren't playing with him enough. But this dude is SMART. He learns and responds so quickly to redirection and training.

Louie is great with everyone and everything he meets. He has such a gentle nature about him and melts in your arms. He is eager to please and doesn't like to disappoint his humans...or his older canine siblings. We've watched Louie's energy, personality and heart throb looks continue to blossom and we know he is going to make the most incredible canine companion! He is an adaptable guy that will thrive in a variety of households. To meet Louie, is to love Louie.

Louie's adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccines, dewormings and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
