Pippie is an adorable 3-year old, 25 pound dog who is fun and cuddly. She loves her long walks and hikes where she can run, smell and jump in and out of the tall grass. Pippie can pull a bit because she is so excited and happy to be out running. She does best with a long line and does slow down when she tires out.
Pippie also loves to go through the toy box at her foster home. The first thing she does in the morning is find a stuffy toy to take outside with her. She also loves to chew on her Nylabones.
Pippie knows a few commands, especially sit and wait. She will come when she is called in the backyard. She is a smart girl and will be an easy dog to train.
Pippie exhibits behaviors that will need continual work, so an experienced dog owner needs to be considered to adopt. She is crate-trained, and mostly house-trained, as long as she is reminded to go outside often. She will go to the door, but if she is ignored, she may find another place to go.
Pippie lives in a foster home with another dog and two cats. She gets along with them, but she did start a squabble with the resident dog for sniffing around her crate. For that reason, she would most likely do best as an only dog. Outside the home, she is fine hanging out and walking with other friendly dogs. She is friendly with the cats in her foster home but tends to chase.
Pippie has some trouble meeting new people. She will demonstrate agitated barking spells. Once she is comfortable and recovers, she does alright. Sudden movements also startle her and trigger the barking. For this reason, Pippie should live in a quiet home with an adopter who is willing to work on training and has no children.
