Introducing the most charming royal to ever rock a wag: Sir Callahan Short-Tail the First! 👑
Despite his regal title, Sir Callahan is a modest fellow—a 25-pound cocktail of Beagle and maybe some Cocker Spaniel in his mix. He’s spent the last few months living the rugged life in an outdoor kennel, which is frankly beneath a man of his stature. He’s officially retired from the "great outdoors" and is looking for a soft sofa where he can hold court.
Sir Callahan is a world-class attention seeker. If you aren't petting him, he assumes you simply forgot he was there and will provide a nudge to remind you of your duties. He’s got a short tail but a massive heart—which, truth be told, is currently playing host to some uninvited heartworms.Don't let those pesky hitchhikers scare you off! Sir Callahan isn't worried about the "medical bills" (he doesn't have a job, after all). The rescue has already decreed that they will cover the entire cost of his treatment at one of their partner vets.
He’s friendly, he’s floppy-eared, and he’s ready to trade his kennel for a kingdom. All he needs is a loyal subject to provide the belly rubs he so rightfully deserves.

Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters in Texas or straight off the streets in South Texas where there are packs of stray dogs running loose. Your fee covers the significant costs of bringing them to safety. Your adoption fee covers: spay/neuter (if old enough), transport fees getting the dogs from Texas to our fosters homes here (that ALONE is $200-$230 per dog), core vaccines, heartworm test (If old enough), deworming, and microchip.
We partner with VCA Animal Hospitals. With every adoption comes a complimentary First Exam at any participating VCA location within the first 14 days of adoption. Follow-up Care Coverage: VCA provides limited health guarantee coverage (up to $250) for specific minor illnesses (like kennel cough or ear infections) diagnosed during that initial 14-day window.
We do not guarantee the breed of any of our dogs or how big they will be when they are fully grown. The breed listed is typically a guess based off of appearance or personality traits. We cannot guarantee that any dog is not mixed with pit. This is a standard part of adopting a dog from rescue.
We are a non-profit rescue. Any access revenue made is used to care for animals with additional medical expenditures that would otherwise result in adoptable dogs having to be left behind and euthanized.
