Meet Roy
Roy is what we like to call a 2018 model chocolate gentleman with excellent manners, a soft heart, and a very serious commitment to couch cuddling.
Roy came to us after his owner entered hospice care, and he’s ready to trade shelter life for a home where he can be someone’s steady companion again. He’s about 78 pounds, neutered and vaccinated, and heartworm negative.
Here’s what we know about Roy so far:
Roy is potty trained
Roy is crate trained (though he does bark at first when crated)
Roy is great with kids, dogs, and even chickens
Roy knows how to sit and takes treats gently
Roy walks on a leash (he pulls a bit with excitement, but he’s manageable)
Roy does wonderfully in a fenced yard and prefers to stay within sight of his people
Roy would do best in a house rather than an apartment, mostly because he does like to voice his opinion when crated and would be happiest with space to stretch his legs and lounge nearby while his people go about their day.
Now, in the interest of transparency (and because honesty builds strong relationships), Roy does have one very specific hobby:
Roy has an affinity for throw pillows. He gives a little hip action.
Once he has thoroughly established his… authority 🫣… over the throw pillows, he returns immediately to his regularly scheduled programming as a calm, affectionate couch companion who just wants to lean into you and relax.
He truly shines when he’s with his people. When he’s near his humans, Roy settles quickly and is exactly what most families are hoping for: steady, gentle, and happy to be included in everyday life.
If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who enjoys outdoor time, indoor naps, and maintaining proper household pillow hierarchy, Roy may be your guy.
