Thank you for your interest in adopting. Jonah lives in an Alabama Foster Home and will Transport after he is Adopted. Foster's FaceTime and video chat with an Approved Adopter so that you can learn about your dog before you receive it. We have been rescuing and adopting dogs to families for over 15 years.
An 82 year old Preacher wanted a small dog who would not outlive him. He found Chloe, a 7 year old tan chiweenie on Craigslist. After 3 weeks he took Chloe to the vet because she was getting fat and round. The X-ray revealed she was pregnant! The vet gave him our number. We took Chloe and her puppies because it was too much for him to manage and we planned on returning her after she weaned her litter and was spayed. He decided he couldn't afford her and surrendered Chloe to rescue. She's also available.
We planned to keep her small breed puppies in Alabama and wait until they were older to spay neuter, but the interest in the boys hasn't been there so we've decided to neuter them in August and send them to the homes they desperately deserve.
Jonah is 3.5 months old and weighs 6.5 lbs. he's a little heavier than his brother and he's obviously longer. His Mom was 11.5 pounds nursing and we cont expect him to grow bigger than that. We do not know the daddy dog, but we do know he was a small dog.
We are guessing on his breed mix. Only a dog DNA test would know. Most mixed breeds have a half dozen or more breeds in them. He is scruffy, but that may not be wire hair dachshund.
Jonah has been pad trained and he's spends time in the yard. He is not crate trained, but we will get him familiar with the crate now that he's listed long distance.
Jonahs adoption includes neuter, puppy vaccines and two boosters, bordetella, rabies, dewormed, microchip, and he receives flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
He has been fostered with older kittens. Sometimes they sleep together!
Jonah has always had a littermate and his mom around when his caregiver isn't home. He would not do well home alone all day. He eats a good quality chicken pate puppy food and a a little high quality dry dog food.
$750 adoption fee for a fully vetted and healthy small breed dog. This fee includes long distance transportation ($175) and a health certificate from a licensed vet. ($65). We do not own the transport service. It would take 4-5 vet appointments to get everything done this baby has had.
Serious adopters should fill out the application online. A fenced yard is a plus, a vet reference is required, current or previous.
Copy and paste the link into your browser. This is an easy application and we'd appreciate you taking the time to tell us a little about yourself, your pets, and why you want to adopt this dog.
