Jeff - Chinese Crested Dog and Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Ramona, California

Jeff was surrendered after changes in his family made it difficult for them to continue providing the care he deserves. Adopted as a puppy nearly nine years ago, Jeff is a friendly 9 lb. cutie who loves playing with toys, going for walks, and exploring new places. Trips to the beach are reportedly a favorite activity! Jeff has previously lived with cats and respectfully coexisted with them.

Understandably, the transition from his home and family was stressful for Jeff, and he didn't eat during his first week on-site. Thankfully, one of our wonderful vet techs decided to take him for a two-week Frosted Fling to give him an opportunity to decompress in a home environment. She shares:

"It only took one night to get a tail wag from Jeff, and he ate his meals with a little ground turkey on top. He's very comfortable riding in the car, loves to have a little neck massage and then falls asleep. So far, no accidents in the house, although he's still getting the hang of the magnetic screen to go outside.

However, Jeff has mastered the stairs to get up on the bed! He gets along with my dogs unless his boundaries are pushed. and then he'll show his teeth and snap but just enough to say "back up ".

Jeff will need someone to be very patient, as he doesn't always like being picked up. But, when he's on my bed, he will snuggle next to me and allows pets with no problem. He'll need a little time to trust again, but it's totally worth the wait."
