Lola - Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Whitewater, Wisconsin

LOLA

Chihuahua
🇺🇸
Whitewater, Wisconsin
October 23rd
female, small, senior

DESCRIPTION

Her name was Lola. She was a showgirl.

Okay, technically she is an 11-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua currently living in Green Bay, but spiritually? Lola has been headlining at the Copacabana since 1978.

Feathers in her hair? Optional. Drama? Minimal. Star power? Off the charts.

Lola came to rescue as an owner surrender from Atlanta, but she has made it very clear that she is not interested in discussing her past unless there is a documentary deal involved. These days, she is focused on her comeback tour, which includes squirrel patrol, sunbathing, shredding the stuffing out of toys, and absolutely smoking the competition on the staircase.

Yes, Lola is 11. No, Lola did not receive that memo. She moves like a dog half her age and apparently believes every flight of stairs is the final lap of the Chihuahua Grand Prix. She has one fully functioning eye, but do not mistake that for a disadvantage. That gorgeous brown eye is more than enough to spot a squirrel at 50 paces and launch Lola into immediate backyard security mode.

At the Copa... Copacabana...
The hottest spot north of Havana...
Or, in this case, somewhere around Green Bay.

Lola is currently living with four larger dogs—two males and two females—and gets along beautifully with everybody. In fact, she would prefer her forever home to include another dog because Lola believes an entourage is essential for any proper celebrity. She also does well with men, women, children and cats. Basically, Lola’s guest list is pretty generous.

She is completely housebroken, does not need a crate, shares her toys and rawhides nicely, rides well in the car and even handles trips to the veterinarian without turning it into a hostage situation. On walks, Lola may zigzag a little, but this is not poor leash etiquette. She is working the room. Every bush must be investigated. Every blade of grass may contain gossip. Every telephone pole has a story.

Lola is playful, social and curious, with one especially charming habit: she likes gathering her toys into a little pile and hanging out beside them like a tiny dragon guarding her treasure. Except instead of gold, it is half-dismembered squeaky toys. Her signature hobby is removing the stuffing from those toys with the precision of a surgeon and the enthusiasm of someone who has waited all week for craft night.

When she isn’t redecorating plush animals from the inside out, Lola enjoys lying in the sunshine, chewing on a rawhide and waiting until she knows you well enough to issue the official belly-rub invitation. And make no mistake—the invitation will come.

Lola sleeps in a dog bed with her canine roommates, although every morning she hears her foster getting up and launches herself onto the human bed. Tiny dog. Big vertical leap. Zero respect for age-related expectations.

Her wardrobe leans toward cozy sweaters on chilly days, because every aging nightclub legend understands the importance of both warmth and accessories.

Her signature color? Copacabana Coral with Gold Lamé. Naturally.

Her favorite seasons are summer and fall, when squirrel activity reaches peak levels and Lola can resume her position as Director of Rodent Surveillance.

There are only a couple things this showgirl finds less than fabulous. Thunderstorms make her nervous, and sudden loud noises can startle her. During storms, she may hide in another room, but she is perfectly happy to be scooped up and held until the scary stuff passes. Because even nightclub legends occasionally need their people.

Health-wise, Lola is doing wonderfully. She currently has no medical concerns and simply gets one daily Cosequin chew for joint support, costing roughly 28 cents per day. Twenty-eight cents. Honestly, her rider is embarrassingly reasonable. She has excellent hearing, sees remarkably well with her beautiful remaining eye, sheds very little and maintains a healthy weight while enjoying kibble throughout the day.

And while Lola may technically qualify as a senior dog, she appears to strongly disagree with that classification. Senior? Please. Lola is merely an established performer. A seasoned professional. A woman who has seen things.

So if you are looking for a tiny, affectionate, housebroken, dog-friendly, cat-friendly, kid-friendly social butterfly with one magnificent eye, an impressive sweater collection and a deeply personal vendetta against squirrels...

Come meet Lola. Because music and passion may always be the fashion... but at Lola’s Copa, belly rubs are mandatory.
