Nikolaj is a 15-pound Chihuahua mix who is looking for a patient family that will give him the time he needs to feel safe. He is very timid around new people, but he has a gentle nature and enjoys playing once he's comfortable.

He has done well with children and has been a quiet, well-mannered houseguest. Leash walking is still a work in progress, and at this point he'd rather lie down than go for a walk. Because of that, he'd be happiest in a home with a fenced yard or one that understands he'll need time and encouragement to gain confidence.

For someone willing to move at his pace, Nikolaj is a sweet little dog who is ready to continue blossoming in a loving home.
