Meet Fern

For the last several weeks, Fern has had one very important job—being an incredible mom. This sweet 3-year-old, 15-pound girl was found as a stray while very pregnant. Despite everything she'd been through, she lovingly raised all six of her puppies and never stopped being the gentle, devoted mama they needed.

Now it's finally Fern's turn.

Fern is one of those dogs who simply wants to be close to her people. She has a calm, lower-energy personality and is happiest curled up beside you on the couch, soaking up affection. She isn't a high-energy dog and would much rather spend her day relaxing with her family than constantly being on the go. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be by your side, Fern is your girl.

She warms up to people quickly and has such a sweet, affectionate nature. Fern gets along well with other dogs, though she doesn't seem interested in playing with them. She would be perfectly happy sharing a home with another calm dog or soaking up all the attention as your one and only. She has done well with older/respectful children.

Fern is mostly housebroken. Like many nursing moms, she's had a few accidents while spending nearly all of her time caring for her puppies, but as her puppies become more independent and she returns to a normal routine, she's doing very well and continues to improve.

After spending so much of her life taking care of everyone else, Fern deserves a family who will finally take care of her. She's an easy, loving, all-around wonderful dog who's ready to spend the rest of her life being someone's best friend.

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature.
