Meet Ivy!
This sweet little girl is a 2 year old chihuahua mix, weighing under 10 pounds. This poor babe has been through so much! Ivy and several other small-breed pups were found dumped in the forest. Judging by the condition they were in, these poor babies had experienced significant neglect long before they were abandoned.
So, we can't blame Ivy for being a little unsure of the world around her. She questions nearly every movement her foster makes, and it took several days before she felt safe enough to accept pets.
But little by little, Ivy is learning what love is all about, and she's finally getting the second chance at life she deserves!
Ivy loves to run, play with toys, and hang out with her furry foster siblings. She doesn't pay much attention to the resident cats, either! When it comes to affection, she's still a bit independent. She prefers to snuggle up on the floor or couch nearby rather than being right in your lap. She's often in "flight mode," but if you pick her up, she'll happily accept some pets and snuggles.
Ivy would do best in a quieter home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. A home with older, respectful children and no large dogs would likely be the perfect fit.
She's also doing fantastic with her routine!
Crate trained: Ivy loves her crate! Sometimes, when you can't find her, she's tucked herself away for a peaceful afternoon nap. She often puts herself to bed in her crate, too.
House training: She's doing amazing! If it's been a little too long since her last potty break, she'll do the cutest little dance to let you know it's time to go!
Ivy has already come so far, but she still has some growing and trusting to do. She needs a patient family who understands that love doesn't always happen overnight. Sometimes, the most rewarding friendships are the ones that take a little extra time.
