Meet McIntosh — A Little Heart Learning What Love Feels Like
Breed: Chihuahua
Gender: Female
Age: 5 years
Size: 6.8 lbs
Good with: Smaller dogs and learning to trust people
Sweet McIntosh is one of several Chihuahuas rescued from a hoarding situation — and just like her fellow apple-named friends, she is discovering that life can be so much sweeter.
McIntosh didn't grow up knowing the gentle touch and love of a human. Because of that, she can be a little unsure at first. But every day, she comes out of her shell a little more, and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding. This precious girl takes comfort from having a confident doggy sidekick by her side. Having another dog around helps McIntosh feel safe and gives her the courage to explore, connect, and trust.
Once McIntosh decides you're part of her heart, you'll discover a whole new side of this sweet girl. She will gladly give kisses, enjoy snuggles, and soak up the affection she once didn't know she was missing. McIntosh isn't looking for a loud or hectic life. She would flourish in a calm, patient, and loving home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. She needs someone who understands that trust isn't always instant — sometimes it grows quietly, one little step at a time.
For the right person, McIntosh will be a beautiful reminder of just how powerful love can be. Watching this once-frightened little girl learn to trust, seek affection, and enjoy life is a gift. McIntosh is ready for her next chapter — a quiet home, a kind heart, and a forever family where she can finally blossom.

The information in this profile is based on observations made while this dog has been in our shelter environment. We strive to describe each dog accurately; however, behavior and needs may change in a new home, routine, or environment.
Our dogs are not free-roaming in homes. “Potty trained” indicates reliable crate training, not confirmed free-roam house training. Accidents may occur during the transition to a new home, and additional training should be expected.
All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian, are spayed or neutered, and are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations at the time of adoption. While we provide all known medical information, we cannot guarantee future health or the absence of underlying conditions.
ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.happyfacespetranch.org
Once your application has been approved, a representative will be in touch to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog based on the dog's individual needs.
